Leigh Jeneroux
Forest City Gallery, 1025 Elias St.
September 11 – October 9, 2026
Closing Reception: Friday, October 9, 2026 @ 7–9pm
This is an experimental framework for investigating social cohesion and community building through artistic practice.
The project rolls out in two parts. Meet me Where I'm At (MMWIA) Phase 1 invites you into the community through a social media campaign and a series of micro gatherings at Ross Park. As members of MMWIA, you are co-researchers, contributing raw data in the form of social media interactions and planned activities. The dynamics of our evolving community are documented over time, and you're welcome to join us at any point. Watch Instagram for our events calendar and meet us at The Park.
For Phase 2, Leigh brings the collected research to the laboratory at the Forest City Gallery Pier Wall. Here, during a series of six studio drawing sessions, I interpret data through large, speculative drawings and look for research threads. Meaning and relationships emerge in layers as the drawing marks accumulate. You'll find me drawing during regular gallery hours on September 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, and October 1. Leigh welcomes your company as she works.

Artist Bio:
Leigh creates work that contemplates the intersection of sociology, psychology, science, metaphysics, and spirituality. Using semiotics and language—often with colour and humour—she studies universal human experiences from deeply introspective to broad sociological perspectives.
Leigh's interdisciplinary approach emerged from a unique path. She graduated with a BFA in 1991, went to teacher’s college, then taught sculpture internationally for ten years before pursuing a Master's degree in counselling psychology, in Mississippi. Didacticism and social sculpture became central themes in her work, eventually leading her to complete a Master of Architecture in Toronto. Her focus on community-building and space-making in the public realm deepened from there.
As a sculptor, painter, educator, and architect now living and working in London, Ontario, Leigh continues to build a rich practice that bridges creative expression with rigorous investigation.
