Maidens, Spindles, and Mother-of-All : Stacey Sproule

Friday, June 4, 2010 to Friday, July 9, 2010

Ritually symbolic in movement and feel, this performative installation by Stacey Sproule examines the sudden explosion of unimpeded and inexorable growth in nature and human life. Performed in the round, four groups of costumed characters embody elements of the natural world and serve as a metaphor for children entangled in conflict, poised unwittingly at that pivotal juncture between childhood and adulthood. Sproule shows us that childhood innocence is often lost in the quickness of personal choice or sometimes merely by circumstance. Regardless the cause, what often results is not always pleasant.
