Forest City Gallery is a community of artists who thrive off creative interplay and foster relationships between artists at all stages of their career, with a particular emphasis on emergent artists. Situated in London, Ontario, Forest City Gallery was founded on the principles of artistic autonomy and a celebration of its regional context. Forest City Gallery is committed to extending the discourse between established and experimental art forms, responding to the rich history of artistic production in this region, and advancing relevant contemporary practices in visual/media arts, performance, literature and music. Expected start date: August 20, 2012

Rate of Pay: $16-18/hour, 28 hours weekly + additional contract opportunities for grant writing
The successful candidate will receive two weeks vacation in the summer and additional time-off during the winter holidays. This is a two-year, renewable contract at 28 hr/week with the understanding that additional volunteer hours may be required.
Responsibilities:
• In consultation with the Board of Directors implement the Gallery's artistic programming and administrative operations
• In consultation with the Grants Committee research, write and submit all operating, project and special grants
• Research and identify new funding opportunities
• Liaise with funders and prepare final grant reports
• Participate in the curatorial process as a member of the Programming Committee
• Option to develop one exhibition independently each year
• General administrative management activities including correspondence with exhibiting artists, speakers, submission applications, members and donors
• Co-ordinate shipping, transportation and travel activities of visiting artists/writers/speakers and their works
• Oversee and schedule support for exhibitions installation, including activities related to media screenings, literary and music events
• Work with Volunteer Coordinator to manage and schedule volunteers
• Research and formulate community outreach strategies, organize workshops, lectures and related programs
• Develop and revise ongoing annual & monthly budget projections under the guidance of the FCG Board, Treasurer and Bookkeeper and maintain accurate financial records
• Manage financial aspects, including reporting, of all grant applications and special projects funding
• Assist in the development and implementation of fundraising strategies and events
• Network and liaise with advocacy groups locally, provincially, and nationally
• Maintain a clean, well organized, safe working environment
Qualifications:
• Previous administrative and artistic direction experience
• Previous experience with successful grant writing
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated
• A thorough knowledge of contemporary cultural practices on a local, national and international level
• Confidence in the handling of artworks and installation of exhibitions
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in partnership with the FCG Board, committees, artists, volunteers and community members
• A strong working knowledge of various Mac applications (word, spreadsheets, graphics, web) & PC experience
• Ability to work comfortably with A/V Technology
• A post-secondary degree in visual arts/visual studies/museum studies and/or demonstrated experience in artist-run centres, not-for-profit organizations, public/private galleries or museums
• Familiarity with Artist Run Culture
Additional Assets:
• Proven experience working with budgets, researching and writing government and foundation grants
• Previous management experience
• Fundraising and Public Relations experience
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks software
• Experience working for the non-profit sector
• Website management abilities
• Fluency in another language in addition to English

2) A 300-500 word writing sample answering the following question:
“The ABC granting foundation is now accepting applications from artist-run centres for operational funding. Please explain in 300-500 words why Forest City Gallery should receive funding. List examples referring to recent programing and organizational successes”
3) A current CV
4) Names of three references with contact information
