Want to get into leading an arts workshop but are overwhelmed by how to approach your proposals or where to start? Community Arts Facilitation is a 2-hr virtual capacity-building workshop for emerging and mid-career artists looking to build their facilitation skills. Participants are guided through how to ideate and shape a program proposal, how to budget and prep, and lastly, how to deliver an engaging program.
This online workshop is geared towards emerging to mid-career artists visual or lens-based artists who are interested in facilitation. You do not need to be formally trained in your discipline. This session will take you from idea to guidance on writing and structuring proposals and pitching your project. Participants will learn how to write clear and convincing proposals, gain tips for budgeting and how to engage attendees. In addition, workshop participants will gain resources for where they can apply to run community arts programming and how to research and tailor their proposals.
Facilitated by Pam Lau, a photographer and educator from Toronto. Frustrated with a culture of gatekeeping and lack of transparency, Pam co-founded Ecru; a grassroots educational initiative for those who face financial, cultural and institutional barriers to entering creative industries. Pam teaches Location Photography at Humber Polytechnic and has led workshops for ArtReach, Art Starts, North York Arts, Workman Arts, JAYU, and Cultural Pluralism in the Arts Movement Ontario. Pam has mentored emerging artists and community arts practitioners under programs by Gallery 44, Canon FUTURES, and Cultural Hotspot (via the City of Toronto).
